What do you really need for postpartum?
There are lots of lists out there telling you ALL the things you need to survive postpartum. Let's be honest, it's OVERWHELMING! Not to mention expensive. I'm here to narrow that list to the essentials that you will use even beyond postpartum. Well maybe not all of them... adult diapers. LOL
1. Frida mom peri bottle - that angled neck is everything. Fill with warm water or even better the herbal infused water for a sitz bath.
2. Adult diapers - so much easier than giant pads.
3. Dermoplast spray - (if you had a vaginal birth. if you’re a c-section mama, swap this for a belly band.)
4. Stool softener- makes for much easier bowel movements.

5. A good water bottle that uses a straw so you can drink while sitting or laying down. Your $15,000 hospital water bottle can work but it sweats when filled with ice cold drinks.
6. A comfortable nursing bra that isn't tight fitting.
7. Silverettes- My only caution is they should not be warn 24/7. The nipples need fresh air, even sunshine to be healthy in the first 6 weeks while establishing your nursing relationship with baby. They also can't be used with any ointments. If these are out of your budget, cotton nursing pads are good. Be sure to give your nips some sunshine and fresh are 20 minutes a day. This could look like sitting in front a a window while rocking baby. The sun is good for both of you. (If nursing if not nursing swap with reusable or disposable nursing’s pads)
8. A handheld pump to gently relieve engorgement in those first few weeks of breastfeeding.
9. Comfy pajamas and slippers. have at least two sets of pajamas so when one gets dirty, you can immediately change into a clean one. Truthfully, you probably need 3 or 4 sets of pajamas. Shop Ross or TJ Max for affordable options.
10. A supply basket or cart within arm’s reach. Stock it with snacks, diaper supplies, several changes of clothes for baby, and nursing supplies for you. I recommend one in the bedroom area and one in the living room area. Designate someone to refill it once a day for you.
I hope this list helps you to focus on preparing for labor instead of scrambling to collect a long list of postpartum supplies. Is there something you used and loved for your postpartum weeks? Share in the comments your favorite, gotta have it, most useful postpartum thing.
